Build and price a Bill of Quantities
Structure measured work, create pricing items and keep subtotals and the general summary reconciled.
Choose the bill structure
Start from the work sections that match the job. NRM2 labels support consistent measurement, but the surveyor remains responsible for selecting the correct rule and description.
Price the work
- Create a sectionAdd the relevant NRM2 group, then a subsection that describes the package.
- Add measured itemsEnter a clear description, quantity, unit and rate. The total is calculated in pennies.
- Separate allowancesUse provisional sums, prime cost sums, risk allowances and credits for their intended commercial purpose.
- Review summariesCheck carried-forward rows, section subtotals, preliminaries, contingency and the general summary.
Quality-check before issue
- Search for blank descriptions, zero quantities and rates that were copied without review.
- Inspect the print preview at the intended paper size.
- Keep assumptions and professional judgement visible in notes or supporting evidence.
